Why German brands source packaging from Türkiye

Germany is Europe's largest consumer market and one of Türkiye's most important trading partners. For packaging buyers, Türkiye offers a practical middle way: shorter and more predictable supply chains than Far-East sourcing, with competitive production costs.

Customs: the EU–Türkiye Customs Union

Industrial goods such as printed packaging generally move between Türkiye and the EU without customs duties under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union. The shipment travels with an A.TR movement certificate, which we prepare with the export documents.

Import VAT still applies in Germany as for any import; under DDP terms it is handled for you, otherwise it is settled by the importer or their customs broker.

Packaging rules in Germany: VerpackG and PPWR

Under the German Packaging Act (VerpackG), the company that first places filled packaging on the German market — usually the brand or importer, not the box manufacturer — must register in the LUCID packaging register and, for packaging that ends up with private consumers, take part in a dual system.

At EU level, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies from August 2026 and puts more weight on recyclability and on avoiding unnecessary empty space. Paper-based, right-sized packaging is a practical way to prepare. We can help with material choices; your registration and licensing obligations remain with your company.

Delivery terms and documents

We ship under EXW, FCA, DAP or DDP terms, work with your forwarder or arrange transport for you, and prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and A.TR certificate. Goods are packed on export pallets suitable for long-distance road freight.
