Custom packaging for brands in France

Why French brands look to Türkiye for packaging

France combines a strong cosmetics and fragrance industry with a demanding food, confectionery and gift market — sectors where packaging is part of the product. Türkiye offers French buyers a supply chain that is shorter and easier to manage than Far East sourcing, with competitive production costs.

  • Road freight or combined sea–road routes to France
  • Shorter lead times and smaller safety stocks than with overseas suppliers
  • A time difference of only one or two hours to France
  • Samples and proofs that reach you quickly for approval

Customs: the EU–Türkiye Customs Union

Under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union, industrial goods such as printed packaging generally enter France without customs duties when they travel with an A.TR movement certificate. We prepare the A.TR together with the export documents.

Import VAT is due in France as with any import. Under DDP terms it is handled for you; otherwise your company or your customs broker settles it.

Packaging rules in France: Triman, Info-tri and EPR

Under France's anti-waste and circular economy law (AGEC), household packaging sold in France must carry the Triman logo together with sorting instructions, known as Info-tri. In practice, the marking is designed into the artwork, so it is easiest to plan it before printing.

Companies that place packaged products on the French market — usually the brand or importer, not the box manufacturer — must also join an approved extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme for household packaging, such as Citeo, and hold a unique identification number (IDU). We print the marking you supply as part of your artwork; registration and contributions remain with your company.

French on the packaging

French law requires product information for consumers in France to be given in French. Many brands therefore print French-only or multilingual packaging. We print the texts you supply in any of these combinations, and you approve every proof — including accents and special characters — before production.

PPWR: the EU packaging regulation

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies from August 2026 and adds EU-wide requirements on recyclability, empty space and harmonised labelling. Paper-based, right-sized packaging without unnecessary plastic is a practical way to prepare. Our PPWR guide gives an overview.

Packaging often chosen for the French market

  • Cosmetic and perfume boxes with soft-touch, hot foil and embossing
  • Chocolate, pastry and confectionery boxes in food-contact-suitable board
  • Rigid gift boxes for premium products and corporate gifts
  • Bottle boxes and gift sets
  • Kraft and plastic-free packaging for natural brands

Delivery terms and documents

We ship under EXW, FCA, DAP or DDP terms, work with your forwarder or arrange transport for you, and prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and A.TR certificate. Goods are packed on export pallets suitable for long-distance road freight.
